African Union Briefing

Baba Gana Kingibe, the Special Representative of the African Union in Sudan, provides an update on the situation on the ground through the eyes of the African Union.  Ambassador Kingibe discusses the recent spillover of violence into Chad and the clashes taking place between the rebels and government along the border, the possible transition of African Union troops to a United Nations peacekeeping mission, and the ongoing peace negotiations in Abuja threatened by the splits within the different rebel movements. The International Rescue Committee's, Rick Brennan, discusses his findings from a study recently published in the British Medical Journal, Lancet, titled, "Mortality in the Democratic Republic of Congo: A Nationwide Survey."
